Help kids help homeless children.
Did you know? According to the American Institutes for Research:
"A staggering 2.5 million children are now homeless each year in America. This historic high represents one in every 30 children in the United States."
One small way to help:
1) Work with your kid(s)/student(s) to gather their gently used children's clothing and shoes. All items should be clean, and in usable condition.
2) Ask your kid(s)/student(s) to create a personalized note to accompany their donation(s), including an outline of their hand(s), name(s) & age(s) (like the ones pictured above). Help those who are too young to write.
3) Bring your donation to your favorite local non profit or shelter helping kids affected by homelessness. Some organizations will even pick up your donations, like Father Joe's Villages in San Diego. Need help finding where to help? Search for an organization on Guidestar.org, CharityNavigator.org, or a similar service. It is always recommended to call first to confirm current needs.
BONUS (ends March 31st) - see rules & restrictions at the bottom of this page for complete details**
Post a photo of your kid(s)/student(s) notecard(s) on Instagram and/or Facebook along with:
1) The total weight of your donated goods (this will help us measure impact).
2) The name of the non profit organization who received your donation.
3) The total number of participating kid(s)/student(s) who contributed. (You receive 1 entry per child)
4) Tag your photos with @TomorrowsHeroesToday AND #OpenHeartHelpingHands so we can find them and to help spread the word! Posts MUST BE PUBLIC to be counted.
We will randomly choose to recognize & reward 1 lucky participant with the following Write Well Prize Pack ($80 Value) so they can continue to use creativity for doing good things!:
